WASHINGTON (Reuters) – U.S. Commerce Consultant Robert Lighthizer mentioned on Monday that his company’s common counsel, Stephen Vaughn, will depart the Trump administration in coming weeks and get replaced by veteran Washington lawyer Joseph Barloon.

Barloon is a associate at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher and Flom LLP. Each he and Vaughn labored with Lighthizer on the Washington workplace of Skadden, Arps for years, as did Deputy U.S. Commerce Consultant Jeffrey Gerrish.

Vaughn “has performed a central position in shaping and implementing the president’s commerce insurance policies, particularly associated to China and the World Commerce Group,” Lighthizer mentioned.

Vaughn, who represented United States Metal Corp alongside Lighthizer for years, dealt with the authorized elements of USTR’s “Part 301” investigation into China’s commerce and mental property practices, which led to tariffs on $250 billion price of Chinese language imports and present U.S.-China commerce negotiations.

Barloon, who focuses on authorities enforcement actions together with civil and legal investigations at Skadden Arps, would convey “authorized experience and sound judgment” to USTR’s commerce negotiations and efforts to rebalance commerce and reform international buying and selling guidelines, Lighthizer mentioned.
