Equifax nears deal to pay about $700 million to settle U.S. data-breach probes: WSJ

(Reuters) – Credit score reporting firm Equifax Inc (EFX.N) is near a deal to settle knowledge breach probes by paying round $700 million, the Wall Road Journal reported on Friday, citing individuals accustomed to the matter.

Equifax can pay the quantity to settle with the Federal Commerce Fee, the Shopper Monetary Safety Bureau and most state attorneys basic, the Journal reported on.wsj.com/2y3olw9.

The 2017 knowledge breach on the firm affected greater than 143 million individuals worldwide.

Equifax didn’t reply to a request for remark outdoors common enterprise hours.
